"Teen Takeover"

This is the street where I used to walk by everyday to work, and to school. Not too long ago there was endless looting and every store was boarded up and I don't know know if those looters were ever get caught (probably not).

The mayor-elect's response was "It was unacceptable", and "but don't demonize youth" https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-violence-brandon-johnson-teens-new-mayor/13143044.

People debate whether this is adequate response or not. What do you think? Well I think it was adequate, at least he didn't say it was acceptable. What did the police say? "... won't be tolerated" and "We strongly encourage parents to accompany their teens or have them remain under the supervision of a responsible adult. " Like their parents (if not null) still able to control these teenagers.

Waita minute just what is this "Yay we got active" thing on the video? These teenagers take joy of torturing the terrified victim!

Not too long ago some clueless traveler thing crowned Chicago as the "Best Big City in the United States" https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-voted-best-big-city-in-the-us-by-conde-nast-traveler-for-6th-year-in-a-row-heres-why/2957641/. I am not sure if crime was ever in its clueless magazine's cluessless consideration.

Look, it was unacceptable, and shameful and some strong response is needed as well as addressing the root cause.

Just why it happened in the first place? Do these teenagers have any demands? Were they protesting against something or demanding something I have no clue. Is it because they rob and terrorize, "because they can" because cops are so useless? Since even looting was fine what else is not fine? There are already dozens of gun violence just about everyday. Police basically can't put crimes in check.

Besides criticizing, what can you do about it?

Move out of Chicago is definitely a good move but that isn't the solution because that's avoiding the problem.

Why can't these kids just study hard, find work, live a good life and not terrorize others? Read the rest of Johnson's response: "...not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities". Yes, youth is not to be demonized, but waita minute, these youths were demonic!

Problem 1: is lack of opportunites a reason to terrorize downtown? Problem 2: why is there lack of opportunities in their communities?

Solution 1: I already do see flashing police cars on most intersections of the magnificent mile Michigan Avenenue. There needs to be the same in the less magnificent mile State Street. Every intersection needs one. The police need to keep its words: catch them put them on jail, although I have some doubt their ability to do so.

Now the bigger problem (#2) is why isn't there opportunities in their communities? I believe if there are any business in their communities they get robbed everyday and that's why nobody open business in there, and vicious cycle of poor beget violence, and violence beget more poor, etc.

This means: someone must invest in their communities (not my money please). Those who are super well to do (like top Hollywood, sports stars etc) that they admire, descend down to talk to these people, tell them what is proper and what is not. Create jobs. Promote Peace.

Now talk is easy to "create jobs". Decent paying jobs now have ridiculously high requirements and people prefer to loot instead of doing difficult jobs that pays little. Bump up the minimum wage to even higher does not solve that either.

So the long term solution is first the police must be fearful enough, must be capable enough. Stronger effective punishment needed. Then the city offer incentive to create business (for example low tax) and promise safety for business (security cameras, cops patroling etc) Jobs: there must be attainable jobs out there for those willing to work. Talk is easy, but who is willing to hire these teens and change their lives?

The ultimate solution is actually education. Brandon Johnson was a teacher he should have a better idea than me that education is actually the best solution here. But do the schools even talk about this after this incident? They go back to their endless (and useless) curriculum: alliteration, onomatopoeia, simile and metaphor, endless boring math drills and native Americans history (they don't even teach modern US history nor any world history and forever obsessed with explorers era). Schools should talk about this! and focus less on other (controversial) social issues.

War on Ukraine and banned weapons

As much of the world is recovering from COVID mask mandates and just watching another Winter Olympics which is supposed to "cultivate human beings, through sport, and contribute to world peace", Russia invades Ukraine, starting major military conflict in Europe not seen since World War II! It has been 10 days and already lots of casuualties on both sides with brutal attacks on civilians. The world is saddened by the totally disastrous waste of thousands of lives and leaving countless destructions and millions seeking refugess.

Waita minute just what causes this? Please someone explain this in layman's terms. According to the under reported news, the 2nd command in the free world VP Kamala Harris says:

So, Ukraine is a country in Europe," Harris explains while speaking slowly. “It exists next to another country called Russia,” she continued. “Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.

You can see the real reasons when you read news about their ceasefire discussions. So the real reason is Putin demands Ukraine not join NATO as he sees that as a threat. Russia wants Ukraine to not join NATO, de-militarize, "denazify". See here. And want to "amend its constitution to guarantee neutrality, formally cede Crimea to Russia, and recognize the independence of the Russian-backed breakaway republics in eastern Ukraine." See here.

Well those are not acceptible terms and fight will go on.

Russsia lost a lot of troops and military equpment (tanks, planes helicopters etc) and world wide sanctions would make it hard to fight a long war. Eventually Russia will just have to eventually give up.. after losing lots and lots of their troops. Putin definitely need to read up Sun Tzu's Art of War chapter 3 about attacking a castle like swarms of ants isn't a smart thing to do. But Sun Tzu could not dream of the devastating weapons of today 2000 years ago. Somebody in Russia need to detach Putin's nuclear button!

The Ukrainian president hope NATO to set up no-fly zone.. meaning to shoot down any Russian planes if they cross. But everyone is afraid to directly confront the most powerful nuclear power in the world, but not worried at all by providing other assistance such as weapons and humunitarian aide. And of course, the UN is useless to stop this conflict just like the League of Nations couldn't stop WWII. Uh hem, I am not saying this is becoming World War III, which I do not believe will happen. So Ukraine must fight on, NATO aren't sending troops either. But there are brave volunteers to help. Gosh and some of these brave people will probably be sacrificed.

Now in terms of numbers Russia definitely outnumber Ukraine in everything, from troops to tanks to aircrafts. So really should have no problem at all for invasion. But war is not just about numbers, it is about whether you get support from your people, resources allocation and transportations, will to fight, and geography and tactics. And about technology too. A drone with bombs can affectively kill many of you and you can't even detect.

Now the weapons, Russia of course face criticism of using devastation banned weapons like vacuum bomb and cluster bombs. Vacuum bombs pretty much fill a big area with gas and then blow up! No place to hide, it will tear your lungs and entire body apart. Cluster bombs contain little bombs with parachuts that don't blow up immediately. It can be discovered years later and blow you up. So they are "banned". Horrible horrible devastating weapons on civilian. But waita minute, is it not so horrible to shoot civilians with AK-47 and grendades? Geez, STOP KILLING CIVILIANS or STOP KILLING ANYBODY!

This horrible conflict will definitely end, just as every other conflicts. It will leave behind endless pain and sufferings and a new world. Putin will definitely lose. The world will not be the same again.

Fall of Afghan

It is hard not to gasp at the astonishing ending of the 20-year Afghanistan War. So Biden decided to exit this never ending war, and bold enough to actually make this happen. Look it is senseless to spend huge amount of money and risk American lives for an endless conflict. It is stupid to get into one in the first place. We should blame the guy who started this who does not have an exit plan. Well his successors do not have exit plans either.

Any war conflicts must have a clear objective and should be swift and decisive. I thought world leaders know a thing or two about such basic principle as written in the classic "The Art of War" In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns

But look, you just can't walk out like this.

Look Afghan president (I don't even care your name), you can't just abandon your country like this.

Look Afghan forces, you can't just let the Talibans take over (again) without even a fight. The fact that they don't even fight back means they want to be ruled by the Talibans again and perfectly fine for your girls to be their slaves.

How can the world's mightiest power be humiliatedly defeated like this. How can we trust the US to be able to fight anybody? "We stand with ____" you say? Do you have any actual ability. I am afraid you are an actual "paper tiger".

Is there any success after World War II? Vietnam: lost, Korean: stalemate... (well yes there is, ok you can look it up here).

Yes, we need to leave, but we needed a good plan to leave. Should have avoid an exit scene even worse than Saigon. They grossly underestimated the Talibans and the Afghan's abilities here. Any thoughts about what to do after we leave? Would they plan another 9/11 like event for us? While it really sucks to be in a quagmire, how about jump out... and jump into a fierly burning fire. But would Trump do it better if he actually get another term? He set an even earlier date.

The future is grim as Covid still around and now we have more terrorists around as if the world not have enough problems already.

Origin of Covid

Look, we look up to scientists for answers. People actually believe you when you are a top scientist. What should we belive in now?

Now the very fact that China won't allow you go investigate until after a year already says a lot.

The fact that the virus lab is so close to that wet market also says a lot.

And look, Wuhan is a big city not near caves, where do you think the bats come from. Sure enough some Chinese eat wacky wild animals... but they have done that for centuries. It is gotta be that lab. But of ourse you won't be able to find any evidence after it has been cleaned for a year. Fauci himself needs to be investigated.

The result will be a stalemate because no evidence would be found. And just what you going to do if you know it is an accidental leak? what if it is deliberate leak? Are you going to nuke China?

Ridiculous prayer

His church should fire this guy immediately. Waita minute, why even have a prayer at all? If you are going to have one, have one properly.

Trump vs Covid-19

This is the most interesting chapter in US History. Election is just a month away and what an October surprise. Trump got Covid-19. So did his wife and a few people "in his orbit" as some news article say it. Spread event right there in the white house. No mask. No social distance. Here is that consequence. And nope. as of this point this is not the end of Trump. Even his age and weight put him in high risk group. Oh there is the experimental drug he is having... which isn't the same one he pushed earlier. Seems to be working for him as this moment and he is back in action. Before he return to White House... he did this controversial SUV ride! Why is that even needed? You are putting that driver in danger! "Don't be afraid of Covid!" he tweeted.

Now I do NOT wish him death. That would cause the world to be in havac and send the Dow Jones to hell.

But look, how irreponsible is this to host that White House event without mask on.

But at this point Trump won. Trump also beat impeachment. Completely invincible.

Will the election able to get rid of him? I. am. afraid. not.

This election is all about Trump. It is Trump vs non Trump. Trump got fans. It seems Biden does not.

It does not matter if Biden leading by 100 points because only swing states count. Trump will be preceived as the invincible winner. He will definitely work together with UK PM who also got Covid-19 and beat the heck out of China in next term.

It is unfortunate that out of a sea of Democratic candidates not one stand out as charismatic and pragmatic and had the experience. Biden already the best choice among those.

So I predict... a Trump win because Dems are too pathetic.

Why is that an insult

There is no escape. Everywhere you go (on the web). Your phone notifcations. Your TV. Everywhere. Anywhere. You see that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is gone and Trump get another chance to pick another judge. Presidents don't get chance to appoint a Supreme Court judge until one of them died or retired (with Senate approval). And media is all over it again. Now if you ask me, the constitution's check and balance is totally useless as it will be along party line. Trump gets to pick anybody he wants. And guess what, every anti Trump guy is pushing wait til election. What if Trump win? want to wait another election? There is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that says you got to wait til next election if it is close to one. So yes, I think it is perfectly fine to appoint a judge now.

Now this RBG is so big a deal that you can't escape coverage of her accomplishments. Sure she went to law school when not many other women go to law schools. (But did she remove a ban for women to go to law school?) All that sex discrimination is not just RBG one person's work right? and that is done already and no one is going to reverse it right?

Is Barrett going to put women in cages? I don't think so. Is she reversing gender pay so women only make 50 cents for every dollar? I don't think so either.

Now about abortion. Why is there no more discussion allowed about such act of killing babies legalization? Ok you want a boy, ultrasound says it is a girl are you going to kill that girl? Ok you want a girl, ultrasound says it is a boy are you going to kill that boy? Dumb teenagers get pregnant and you kill the innocent babies within?

Let the constitution do its work. Let judges with different views come in, through the consitutional process.

Pandemic is not over yet

Besides China, whose number simply cannot be trusted, many countries have seen decline but not in the US. That's because too many Americans think they are invincible and not wear masks. They can't wait to reopen can't wait to go to the beach and the bars. Look at that link above.. the death rate is 11% in the US if you get it. It will not only affect older folks, younger folks get it too! Such invincible thought (arrogance) is going to kill some of you and your family while the hospitals evil grin and collect all your money before your death and even after your death.

Like trying to steal a valuable bell but covering your own ears and hacking it into pieces as told in a classic story. Just as bad as suggesting injecting Clorox on yourself. Really. You-are-fired. We need another guy as president.

Now it is still not very clear where is the virus coming from. Sure, it is bats, scientists say. In Wuhan. Is it the wet market? Still no one say for sure that there were actually bats in there. Or is it that virus lab? Everyone keep rejecting that possibility. One very good observation I heard was... waita minute, bats don't even live there in Wuhan how does it get to Wuhan in the first place? Of course there is the cover up and stuff and the world will seek answers from China after there is a real solution for this virus... Hope a vaccine can be produced soon and the world get back to normal.

Until then it still is dangerous out there. Use Masks. Or Risk Death. Is that clear America.

I support business re-open but with precaution required (but still no restaurants cause you can't eat with masks).

Work at home and work at work is not the same. Some business was like "ooh why didn't I think of that and try to save money and make everyone work from home". While yes, money and time saved in transportation and you can save rent by closing the office. But having people physically together can make you more productive and have better interactions. and not everyone have a awesome home office... and what about business that require your presence like the Starbucks near your office?

Hong Kong Chaos

Over a million people protested the proposed Extradition Law to China and it has met with police violence. It was on world news for may be a couple days then the world focus on other news as the chaos go on. Week after week there are new conflicts as the Hong Kong people demand full withdrawal and resignation of the Chief Executive and releasing the arrested.

A million people marching for something is remarkable. It all rooted from someone who killed his girlfriend in Taiwan and fleed back to Hong Kong. What should be done about this guy? There is law that explicitly say can't take this guy back to Taiwan (and China). Oh so let's change that to fix a loop hole is the original plan. The problem is people mistrust China and afraid anyone can be taken back without a fair trial.

So there was protest met with violence. and the law is not officially stopped. And protest go on with more strange police and thug cooperation in endless revenge.

There is no clear ending in sight as both the protesters and police-backed-by-mainland-forces are turning violent. Peaceful protest only work when public opinion get shifted. When both sides are firm only who has the biggest fist win.

This is causing unimaginable damage to Hong Kong's future. People would stop coming (to spend money). Foreign investments may start leaving. How do you restore trust between people and the police?

The wisest thing to do is stop the protests. Give it a break. Calm down a bit. Don't get hurt anymore.

Strike is going to be next move. What other self inflict damage tactics do you have left? Hunger strike? Then what. Jump into the Victoria Harbour?

So just what to do with that murder case? No one even talking about that. How can justice to be brought?

There is hope if entire China up rise demand freedom from big-brother-watching, fair trial and the guys up on top actually grant such wishes.

But the billions apparent fine with what they got so at this moment. Hong Kong protests will just be met with violence until they stop.

Why not stop voluntarily? Fix up the brutal police and go on with your lives

Notre Dame in Flames

Along with much of the rest of the world I am saddened by the huge damage of the Notre Dame fire. This is a great visual guide describing what happened. You can even slide the before-and-after pics there.

It does not look like terrorism is involved... that's good. The world will vow to kick any groups dare to do that.

Just the lots-of-wood structure catches fire somehow. And gosh, the roof is so high that firemen can't reach. Now the Notre Dame is a few hundred years old... and took more than one hundred years to build! Back in those Middle Age Days... there were nothing else much better to do than to build ever-bigger cathedrals and make complex symphonies... a display of power.

Now to reflect.. what's the use of the cathedral just before the fire? Do people still worship in there? Not really it is a hot tourist spot and awesome architecture display. People (with plenty of money) vow to reconstruct it! What for? So they can go back to worship? You do not need a spectacular building to worship. I hope they reconstruct with plenty of fire safety features built in... and it is time to... fire protect other great buildings in the world, especially if it is made of wood.

I am glad nobody say it is a omen.. or wrath of higher being onto the people there.

Who would be responsible for this terrible incident/accident?

School Shooting Weapons

In the Parkland school shooting people out-cried about the powerful automatic weapons used. and in the most recent Santa Fe shooting... only REGULAR weapons were used. So even gun control people are quiet this time. Everyone seems to be ok with shotguns and handguns. Here we go another cycle of thoughts-and-prayers-nothing-done and next guy will do this somewhere. Now this guy does not even have any criminal records or other serious warnings.

But look. Even the shotgun are not so ok. Imagine if this kid has more powerful weapons. The number of deaths would be higher. Learn something from other countries. Imagine how many he can kill with ninja stars or even a sword before stopped by a police with a legitimate gun.

And look at what suggestions people have: arm the teachers! or less doors!

All idiot suggestions. If people have guns they will use it. The logic is this: only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is good guy with a gun. Let's stop the guy with a gun part. But nope, not in America. Impossible to repeal the 2nd amendment.

North and South Korea talk and the war is finally coming to an end. If you were born during the start of that war, you are probably a granddaddy or grandmom now. It was 65 years ago! Even Trump was a kid back then.

Now the criminal in custody is just not named. Look at this guy, in jailed for many years for various felonies... still unable to change him. Bad guy remain bad guy. Should there be capital punishment on repeated offenders?

"In Thompson Center" is as specific as you get in any media coverage. Where? In food court? Near CTA Station? A particular floor?

Prayers, mourning, what else can be done in Chicago gun violence? Nothing.

Dow drops 666

You don't generally hear that big a drop.

Poof! a lot of that recent 401K gains are now lost.

Well I haven't read the book and of course Trump supporters will of course deny everything in there if anything negative about Trump. Americans now cannot tell what is true and what is false.

But denial can only get you so far... until real actual truth come in. But can truth prevail?

Ok, Democrats are now seriously looking at the 25th amendment to remove Trump and find a way to remove him through impeachment. Forget it! Not until the mid term election give you more democrats.

Now, if D > R, you get Obamacare, if R > D, you get endless attempts to try repealing of it. if D > R, tax the rich guys! if R > D, tax relief the rich guys!

Is cycling back and forth a good way to run a country? I guess still better than dictatorship.

These SHAMELESS BAD DUDES ought to be a shame of themselves, but problem is... there are still people who support these shameful beings... now that's even more shameful.

Well, is there good dudes out there? Probably there are. but those good dudes don't have supports needed to win elections. America is in such shameful disgrace even the president bragged about "able to do anything" in that "locker room" talk and still win.

Vegas Shooting

So a week ago, a mysterious retired accountant-turned-gambler "numbers guy" has dozens of guns shooting at a country music festival and now 58 lives are lost and still no motive known. News quiet down as topics like Trump and politics come back to the headlines. And of course, now is still "Not a time to discuss gun control".

Waita minute, Chicago's gun laws is once again being labeled as useless.

Look the bad dudes have legs and can easily go to another state to buy their guns, ok? If gun laws is to work it needs to be nation wide.

Then when will you talk about Gun Control?

How do people respond to yet another act of violence?

They. buy. more. guns.

Another thing in the spotlight: there are some device that can turn "semi automatic" weapon to automatic weapon and may be banned... waita minute just what is "semi automatic"? I do not even bother want to ever find out as I will just never attempt to play with any real guns. Waita minute, preventing that thing is against your freedom! Are people stocking them up?

Let me tell you this: it is NUTS to have such powerful weapons for "protection" with or without that automatic tool. And even if you carry all that if someone shooting at you from 32nd floor you aren't going to protect yourself.

But the silly gun culture is so deeply rooted that even if thousands or even millions die it still won't change.

Investigation about the gun man... how come nobody talked about: does he hate country music or that particular performer? was the music bothering him? The 60+ year old "girlfriend" know anything else? So there is a calculation note about shooting how come no one comment on correct or not? Did he use this mighty equation: d = v_it + 1/2 a t². Why does he not battle a bit with the police? Did he have bulletproof jacket on (doubtful)?

Even Bill Gates uses Android nowadays. What about the the current CEO and the other guy Steve Ballmer? (I guess nobody cares about him nowadays).

So i guess Microsoft's phone battle is totally dead. (Oh it has been dead for a while). I wish someone asked Gates is there anything he would do to give it more life. I think the number 1 reason is of course its damn ugly Tiles (Metro) interface. Is that guy still working for Microsoft? Fire him! Fire him!

Now it is interesting that Gates does not use the iPhone instead.... I am sure he does not mind the hefty price tag. I wish the article say more about why he does not use the iPhone. For me: here is why: everything-is-so-damn-anti-intuitive-in-the-damn-Mac-world and more expensive.

Will Windows one day dead too? I don't think so. Unless someone can really make Linux mainstream. Modern Linux things are lot simpler now... but still too hard for many.

But those who have seen this commercial already grew up.... into a world where brick and mortar stores mostly going out of business... lost to Amazon and the big stores like Target and Walmart... It is kinda sad, but waita minute, when was the last time I went to Toys R Us? Too long ago! I got toys from these other places! I contributed to its doom!

Unfortunate reality is.....the survival of the fittest. Who's next to fold? How long are you able to survive Sears and JCPenny...

I don't understand why a great athlete with high GPA has social anxiety and depression. That itself is complex and so-call-experts only pretend to understand. This is tragic.
